The Top PS3 Games 2009
632009 was a great year for gamers everywhere, and especially those who own a PS3. Great games were constantly being released at every turn, but there are several games that rise above the rest, providing a gaming experience that simply cannot be passed up. Below, we list the top 3 PS3 games of 2009, in our opinion and in no particular order.
Infamous
Infamous is among the the top PS3 games of 2009 not only because it is a great game coming from Sucker Punch, a video game company with a flawless lineage, but because it is just plain fun to play.
You play as Cole, a messenger who finds himself at the center of a massive electrical explosion. When he wakes up, he finds that he has obtained the ability to absorb and control electricity, opening up a whole world of possibilities as he develops and learns about his powers and the reasons behind them.
Run, jump, climb, and fly your way across a wide-open city by means of impeccable controls, impressive voice acting, impressive graphics, and an interesting story.
Dragon Age Origins
Dragon Age Origins comes to us from Bioware, the company behind classics such as Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect. This time, however, they take us into a medieval fantasy setting that is both reminiscent of Lord of the Rings and at the same time quite different.
Dragon Age Origins is a fantasy RPG that takes you through Ferelden on a quest to rid the land of the Dark Spawn, creatures somewhat akin to the orcs of Middle Earth. What sets it apart from other fantasy RPGs is the manner in which the story is laid out.
You begin with a number of different races and classes when you begin the game and create your character. This seemingly simple choice has massive repercussions on how the story plays out, as do the many different choices you make throughout the course of the game.
Uncharted 2
No listing of the top PS3 games of 2009, or even the top games of 2009, would be complete without Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 follows the continuing adventures of Nathan Drake as he seeks out the secrets of the lost fleet of Marco Polo.
Originally dismissed as a male version of the popular Tomb Raider franchise, Uncharted has gone on to set itself apart with an engrossing storyline, breathtaking visuals, top notch voice acting and motion capture, and an experience that is as close to living a movie as anyone is likely to experience. If you own a PS3, you owe it to yourself to purchase Uncharted 2.
Honorable Mentions
Obviously, there were many more excellent PS3 games that did not quite make the list here. Below, find a number of honorable mentions of games that should still definitely be experienced, but not quite to the same degree of necessity.
